FAQ

Q. What is Laker's Day?

LakersDay is Roosevelt’s annual day of giving―a day when philanthropy helps turn our newest visions into reality. Initiatives are 100% donor-funded, and 258 donors contributed $357,467 last year. Once again, this year’s initiative is the RISE Scholarship Fund.

Q. What is the RISE Scholarship Fund?

The RISE Scholarship Fund was launched in spring 2023. RISE provides eligible first-year students a $500–$2,000 donor-funded scholarship. The value is determined by each student’s financial need and their family’s ability to contribute.

The Fund complements our recent decision to reduce tuition for first-year students by nearly 40%, and it will further reduce financial barriers and increase access for prospective students and families, helping students graduate with the least amount of debt as possible.

Q. What does RISE stand for?

Recruitment, inclusion, success and equity―all values and priorities of Roosevelt. Targeted support for first-year students will:

  • Promote the recruitment of students who may otherwise not be able to attend Roosevelt University.
  • Ensure the inclusion of historically underrepresented and/or marginalized student populations.
  • Support the success of students―academically, personally and professionally.
  • Further prioritize equity within higher education.

Q. What are the recent successes of the RISE Scholarship Fund?

In its inaugural year, we:

  • Awarded $443,849 in RISE Scholarships to 393 first-year students this academic year.
  • Ensured donor-support for 2 out of 3 first-year students this academic year.
  • Helped make a Roosevelt education tuition-free for 20% of first-year students this academic year.

Q. How can you help?

On Thursday, April 18, give to the RISE Scholarship Fund. Your gift will help us build upon the success of RISE, and award new students a donor-funded scholarship. Personalize your gift when you designate it for students in a specific college. Gifts of $500+ can sponsor one or more students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Will you RISE to the challenge?

Q. When is Laker's Day?

Laker's Day is on April 18th, 2024 from midnight to 11:59 PM. However, you can make your gift any time after March 27.

Q. How much of my donation goes to Roosevelt University?

Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.5% + $0.30 for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to Roosevelt University. All donations are final and cannot be refunded. Any donations processed outside of Laker's Day donation period, through GiveGab.com, or subsequent recurring donations are subject to transaction fees outlined on the GiveGab.com pricing page: http://info.givegab.com/pricing.

Q. Who will receive my contact information?

Roosevelt University will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.

Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations. Your tax receipt is emailed immediately upon processing your donation. To claim a donation as a deduction on U.S. taxes, you should retain the donation receipt as an official record.
